Moving Tracks info from web host to personal computer?

I posted this in the tips and tricks last night but haven’t gotten a response, so I thought I’d try here.

I’ve been using the hosted version of Tracks at tracks.tra.in and have been really happy. Chris does a great job. However, I’ve found myself needing access to Tracks without a web connection recently and have been thinking of switching to running it on my own laptop.

I have a lot of information already stored on the hosted version - is there a way to move my information to my local installation?

Thanks,
Betsey

You need to contact Chris and ask him if he can export your data from the database as a SQL dump. Then you should be able to import the same info into your own database on your own machine and go from there.

Thanks a lot - I’ll try that. I’m assuming then there’s no way for me to do it often, as a way to sync…

No, there’s no built-in import/export method yet (though that’s planned at some stage). The only way would be to talk very nicely to Chris to ask him to do it for you regularly grin

I have just open an account in Morphexchange.com Tracks Service and I have the same problem. If Morphexchange.com crashes one day I can backup my data in YAML file previously but I don’t know how to import data in a new installation.
