How you can help to support Tracks

Tracks is Open Source (GPL) and free of charge to download and use (and always will be), but the the project could really do with some funds to reach a particular aim: the main developers (bsag and Luke Melia) would find it incredibly useful to each have a MacBook for development work. While we both prefer to code on a Mac, Tracks also supports Windows and Linux, and it can be very difficult for us to test Tracks on these other platforms. Using an Intel MacBook and Parallels Desktop, we would be able to code within Mac OS X and test on OS X, Windows and Linux, all on the same machine, which would radically increase our efficiency and allow us to improve the experience for non-Mac users.

We've never asked for donations before, but it would be great for the project if we could achieve this specific goal. We've calculated (with a lot of currency conversions between Sterling and Dollars) that we need £1700 (or $3,390) to buy two well-specified MacBooks and licences for Parallels Desktop. If you enjoy using Tracks and would like to make a donation, please use the Pledgie button below. We'll be tracking the progress towards our target with Pledgie, and you can see the previous total collected via our Paypal button with the MacBook-o-Meter below. Thanks very much!

Other ways to help

If you're thinking about signing up with Joyent or TextDrive for hosting, Joyent Connector, Strongspace or BingoDisk, (and you should - they're great!), then do please consider using one of the affiliate links at the top of the sidebar. We get a percentage of the sale when the affiliate link is used, so you can help to support Tracks without having to give up any extra cash. Funds raised through the affiliate programme will, of course, be added in to the pot for the MacBook fund.

Help support Tracks without spending any money

We appreciate that not everybody has cash to spare (come to think of it, we have no cash to spare ;-) ), but there are plenty of ways to contribute to the project without spending any money.
